Abstract

The present paper investigates the process through which an ordinary domestic sound can become the basis of a complex musical composition, and analyzes the mechanisms through which a nonlinear contact–release (stick–slip) signal is processed, transformed, and integrated into elaborate timbral and formal structures, using both traditional acoustic techniques and digital procedures for analysis and resynthesis. The relationships between the physical phenomenon, the acoustic spectrum, the instrumentation, and the musical dramaturgy are discussed. The paper presents an extended case study of one of the author’s own compositions, which develops an evolutionary arc in which the raw material is analyzed, processed, orchestrated, and integrated into a form that reproduces the initial mechanism. The results show that domestic mechanisms can become fertile sources of sonic material through spectral modeling, extended techniques, and analogies with the dynamics of nonlinear systems

Rezumat

Lucrarea de față investighează procesul prin care un sunet domestic obișnuit, poate deveni baza unei compoziții muzicale complexe și analizează mecanismele prin care un semnal neliniar de tip contact-eliberare (stick–slip) este prelucrat, transformat și integrat în structuri timbrale și formale elaborate, utilizând atât tehnici acustice tradiționale, cât și procedee digitale de analiză și resinteză. Sunt discutate relațiile dintre fenomenul fizic, spectrul acustic, instrumentația și dramaturgia muzicală. Articolul prezintă un studiu de caz extins asupra unei compoziții proprii ce dezvoltă un arc evolutiv în care materialul brut este analizat, procesat, orchestrat și integrat într-o formă ce reproduce mecanismul inițial. Rezultatele arată că mecanismele domestice pot deveni surse fertile de material sonor prin modelare spectrală, tehnici extinse și analogii cu dinamica sistemelor neliniare.
